Many students are used to a lecture-heavy model of education. In that model, the teacher speaks and the student listens. Guided self-learning is different. The student becomes an active learner.
A mentor does not spoon-feed every answer. A mentor helps students understand the task, overcome confusion, reflect on progress and improve the quality of their work.
